ABOUT Mozhi

 

 

Mozhi is a non-profit & non-commercial educational venture unlike Google or Yahoo. We intend to create a good atmosphere to search for netizans who are using Indian languages. Many netizans have expressed there troubles to search newspapers, magazines, blogs in Indian languages.

 

Our Motive

 

To support all users who are using Indian languages by providing search facility. To assist researchers / scholars to search effectively. We also intend to add non copy righted literature works to enable researchers.

 

Problems with Google, Yahoo, MSN and Guruji

 

Though Google, Yahoo and MSN (LIVE) search bots may crawl Indian language sites, the way they index them in not proper (irrelevance is relatively high). And more importantly users cannot enter words in the particular language (in search boxes) to search.

 

In case with Guruji the user need to use a virtual keyboard to enter words . And they don’t support many popular browsers like Firefox.  The number of languages that they are supporting is also very poor.

 

Others may use the search locally for their site (for may have more results from their site) and will be hard to load. Further they don't offer support to other sites (or research scholars)

 

Our Competitors (?)

 

We don’t have any competitor as ours is a non-commercial venture. And any person who loves Indian languages can join our project. We are ready to support websites in Indian languages as well as scholars in oriental languages to search effectively,

 

Present Status of the project:

 

Though all coding associated with Mozhi is over, our database has only few pages from the respective language editions of Wikipedia. If we need to increase the database size, obviously, we require the support of the public.  Our users can join as volunteers or can donate for the project. Click here for the coding

 

Currently our database space is almost over.

 

Other languages

 

Though we concentrate on South Indian languages we are willing to provide support for other Indian languages.

 

Uptime

 

We guarantee an uptime of 99.9 % for our server.
